WAXING + SUGARING
What's the difference between wax and sugaring?
Sugaring is applied with the esthetician’s hands directly onto the skin (they wear gloves, of course), while we use wooden sticks for our hard wax. Sugaring pulls the hair in the direction it grows (wax pulls against), so many find it to be a gentler, less painful process. Both products are warm and have a honey-like consistency.
Do I need to be really hairy before wax/sugaring?
If it’s your first wax/sugaring ever, we recommend you haven’t shaved for at least 10 days (2 weeks preferably). We recommend waiting three to four weeks between wax/sugaring appointments, but if you need to see us sooner than that to freshen up, we can certainly accommodate you.
Does it hurt?
Bottom line, you’re pulling hair out of its follicle so yes, it will be a little uncomfortable. To ease the pain, we recommend exfoliating the area in the shower the day before your treatment. You should also drink lots of water the day of your appointment and avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours prior to your appointment. And if it’s your first time and you find it to be painful, it gets easier every time. We promise.
What should I expect immediately afterward?
For waxing, you may be a tad red and sensitive for up to 24 hours after. We recommend not working out (or um, having sex) within 24 hours. For sugaring, most clients experience a little redness for an hour or so, but go on about their normal lives (exercise, sex and all) immediately after.
How long will fuzz-free?
Everybody is different, but most clients who get waxed/sugaring regularly come every four weeks (give or take). Sugaring keeps the hair away a little longer, and the more you do it, the less the hair grows back; and for many, it grows back thinner and softer.
Is there anything I should do in preparation for my appointment?
Please carefully remove all eye makeup, including mascara and eyeliner from above and below your eyes. If you wear contacts, remove them before your appointment.
How soon before my special event should I get my lashes done?
We recommend that our first-time clients get an initial set of lashes at least 2-3 weeks prior to your special event so you have time to get used to the feel and adjust your beauty routine if desired. With the appearance of brighter, more open eyes, many clients find themselves wearing less make-up for a fresher, more youthful look. It’s also a good idea to pre-book your Relash appointment for a few days prior to your event to ensure your lashes are full and beautiful on your special day.
What are Eyelash Extensions?
Eyelash Extensions are an entirely new method of enhancing the look and feel of your own natural eyelashes. Our premium lash extensions are applied to a single natural eyelash creating a longer, fuller and darker lash look. They are virtually weightless and are very comfortable on the eyes. The lash extensions are semi-permanent and attached individually using a surgical grade adhesive to last until your own lashes shed naturally. With hundreds of length, thickness and curl combinations, your set of lash extensions will be customized specifically for you.
How are the extensions applied?
Lash Stylist applies your eyelash extensions, individually to your natural eyelashes. The extensions do not touch the skin – they are attached to the eyelash hair only, about 1 mm from the root. The process generally takes 2 hours for a full set and the procedure is so relaxing and comfortable that many of our clients fall asleep!
How long do they last?
Lash extensions should last the length of the natural growth cycle of your eyelashes, usually between 4 and 8 weeks. As your natural lashes grow and shed, the extensions will grow and shed with them. A Relash appointment every 2-4 weeks will keep your lashes looking full and beautiful throughout this cycle.
Are they waterproof?
Absolutely! This is one of the many things our clients love about wearing eyelash extensions. The lash extension and bonding agent are waterproof so you can sweat, shower and swim, knowing your lashes will look just as beautiful while keeping up with your busy lifestyle.
How do I take care of them?
Taking care of your eyelash extensions is easy by following a few simple guidelines. The first is to keep waterproof cosmetics and oil-based products away from your eye area. The second is to keep your eyelashes clean by cleansing them thoroughly every day. Detailed aftercare instructions will also be discussed during your appointment.
Can I use mascara?
Yes. Although most clients don’t find the need, you can use mascara that has been formulated to work with extensions. However, you should never use waterproof or oil-based mascaras as these can dissolve the bonding agent and shorten the life of your extensions, causing them to fall out sooner.
Will my natural lashes be damaged?
No. The most important thing is to make sure you are having them applied by a highly trained and certified Lash Stylist. The adhesive dries very soft on lashes, allowing the lashes to stay flexible and bouncy, just like your own eyelashes. In fact, many of our clients have seen their natural eyelashes become healthier as a result of wearing lash extensions because there is no need to wear mascara or curl your lashes anymore, which can often be damaging.
Can the extensions be removed?
Yes, they can easily be removed by your Lash Stylist. Please do not attempt to remove any lashes on your own as you could damage your natural eyelashes.
